.,. . ~F Theseus, Duke of Athens having defeated the Amazons, prepares to marry the cap
A£ tured Queen Hippolyta. Egeus demands that his daughter, Hermia, marry the man of
his choice, Demetrius, and if she will not "either to die the death or abjure forever the
society of men." Oberon and Titania, the king and queen of the fairies, are having a
squabble over an orphaned Indian boy. Their argument, disagreement, dispute have
~ d,en,U created a foul weather situation for the mortals and one feels that their bad temper per
meates the whole piece. Until Oberon and Titania are reconciled everybody is direct
ly or indirectly affected by their quarrel. "This is the bare bones of the play, to tell more

I have found this experience most rewarding. With a group of established profes

ed and imaginative young people who had less preconceived notions, I have been able
