About the Editor
Seweryn Spalek, PhD, MSc, ICT-Eng., is a Professor of Business and
Management at Silesian University of Technology, Poland. He possesses
extensive knowledge and expertise in project management, both in theory
and practice. Since 1994, he has managed several IT projects in industrial
companies and healthcare organizations in multicultural and multina-
tional environments and has managed an organizational change project—
redesigning the functional organization to project-oriented organization
with PMO; has established and has been running portfolio management
of over 500 projects per year within organization. Spalek is the author
and co-author of several publications in project management and is the
author of The Art of War in Project Management. He has participated as a
speaker in several global conferences related to project management and
company management. Spalek is a lecturer of MBA and post graduate
studies and company management focusing on applied project manage-
ment. He has carried out research related to key success factors in project
management and project management maturity. Spalek is a member of
AOM (Academy of Management), PMI (Project Management Institute),
and IPMA (International Project Management Association), and the
Director-at-Large at SEFI (La Société Européenne pour la Formation des
Ingénieurs/The European Society for Engineering Education).

Contributors
Michael Bragen is an expert in the governance and management of
people, processes, and technologies that support, leverage, and enhance
innovation. His work focuses on the use of data and analytics supporting
project and portfolio management, estimation, and process improvement.
As a strategic advisor to large organizations around the world, Bragen has
conducted hundreds of performance assessments and established analyt-
ics practices for clients. Bragen is the director of global marketing and
partner development at Computer Aid, Inc. (http://www.compaid.com),
an IT services firm headquartered in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Bert Brijs is a practitioner in business analysis, project management,
and architectures in analytics and customer relationship management.
He bundled his 30+ years of European, Asian, and American experience
in the book Business Analysis for Business Intelligence, which combines
practical tips and tricks with academic insights. A fluent speaker of six
languages, Brijs bridges gaps between different cultures, an extension of
his work as an analyst where he bridges the gap between business and IT.
Alfonso Bucero, MSc, PMP, PMI-RMP, PfMP, PMI Fellow, and Certified
Public Speaker, is an independent project management consultant,
author, and speaker. He is founder, partner, and director of BUCERO PM
Consulting in Spain. Bucero has an M.S. in computer science engineering.
He is the author of nine project management books and manages projects
internationally. He delivers workshops, keynote speeches, and consults
organizations on project program and portfolio management. His motto
is passion, persistence, and patience and for him every day is a good day.

Yanping Chen, PhD, MD, PMP, PMI Fellow, has been running major
education and training programs in China and the United States since
the mid-1980s. Prior to coming to the United States in 1987, she was
the planning director for China’s manned space flight program, where
200 projects were being carried out concurrently. She has taught at the
