Stepping through the door, Kiernan returned back to his residence and closed the door behind him.
It wasnât that nice of a return trip, as he received strange looks from everyoneâincluding the carriage driverâwho believed that his first event success was nothing but a fluke.
"Welcome back."
Imperius said from over the kitchen, pulled out a pill package, and tossed it over to Kiernanâhe caught it and looked at it.
"I sent Zacharyâs corpse halfway across the world, and I told a friend of mine to also send some heal booster pills.
"It should speed up the healing speed of your leg nicely, and it should be fixed before the start of the third event."
He said.
"Oh... Thanks."
Kiernan went to kitchen, poured some water into a cup, and tossed handful of pills into his mouth, and drank the water.
"Unlucky choice for the second event, but it couldâve been even worse. If it was something like Point Ball, you mightâve left the second event without any points."
Imperius said with a chuckle.
"Yeah..."
Kiernan limped towards his roomâhe just wanted to go rest and sleepâit had been a very tiring day.
"I have a question before you go to sleep."
Imperius said, looked over the sofaâs backrest, and asked.
"When I woke up from a nap, you were nowhere to be seen, but I thought you went for a morning jog or grocery shopping.
"While I was in the kitchen, I suddenly heard sounds of fighting and came to your room to see you fighting with some random.
"How did that happen? Where did you go, and especially, how did you come straight back here?"
Imperius asked with a sharp gaze.
"I have a question for youâwhy are you still here, and why havenât you returned back where you came from? What are you after in God Island?"
Kiernan asked.
"..."
Imperius looked at him silently, then raised his arms with a smile, and said.
"I guess both of us have a secret that we do not want to reveal, and I respect that. I wonât dive into this secret of yours anymore, ok?"
"...Fine."
Kiernan entered his room, closed the door, and plopped down on the bedâhe put a pillow under his broken knee and rested with a sigh of relief.
The eyes of his turned heavy, and he fell asleep.
Tick-tock. Tick-tock. Tick-tock.
He opened his eyesâthe room around him was darkâand the sun was nowhere to be seen outside.
It was late in the night.
âI mustâve slept ten hours or something.â
Kiernan stood up, and without realizing it, he moved his right leg normally like heâd always do, but then he remembered that it should still be broken.
However, the pain was mostly gone, and there was just some uncomfortableness leftâit wasnât broken anymore!
âThose healing pills sure worked like magic.â
Kiernan thought and left the room to thank Imperius for the pills, but he was goneâthe house was empty except for him.
âThis isnât good. Where the hell is he sneaking to?â
Kiernan went to the refrigeratorâit was emptyâso he sighed and headed to the grocery store, as the one near his residence should be open all day.
He caught some eyes while walking down the streetsâespecially from the residents of God Cityâand they whispered among themselves.
With his honed senses, he could hear them slightly talk about him "fluking" the first event and failing miserably in the second.
He couldnât do anything except sigh with resignation.
After arriving at the well-lit grocery store, he just filled his basket with groceries and tried to ignore the judgmental whispers around him.
He then stepped out of the grocery store after finishing paying for his groceries and placed a candy stick in his mouth, which he purchased from the store.
"Itâs you. The fluke master!"
A ridiculing voice came from the table in front of the storeâa pair of twins were drinking some alcoholic beverages and looked at him with amusement.
"Do I know you?"
Kiernan asked.
"Hehe, probably not, but we know of youâZeus bullied you, didnât he? What a ruthless prick he is, aye."
Jason said with a grin and sipped on the beer.
"Weâre representatives of Daylight and Doomlight, respectively. I am Justus, and this is Jason, my brother."
Justus said.
"Ok, couldnât care less."
Kiernan said and walked away.
"You care about Zeus, donât you? You must be feeling like you want revenge. We can help you get that revenge."
Jason said with a smile.
Kiernan stood walking, rolled his eyes out of the view, and thought.
âArcanielago family. I remember seeing their names on the rankings. I thought it was strange for two people of the same surname to be in the rankings, and the first names were so familiar.
âI thought they might be relatives, but to think they were twin brothers.â
Kiernan turned around and looked at the grinning Jason.
"We also want to defeat Zeus, but that little prick is quite powerful, we have to admit. The Arcanielago and Abracadabra families have a long past.
"The patriarch of the Abracadabra family is Navy Admiral, and so is the patriarch of the Arcanielago family, our grandfather, Jeremiah Arcanielago."
Justus said.
"We want to make sure that both of us, children of the Arcanielago family, are ahead of Zeus in the rankings. Itâs all we care about.
"With our help, I think we can help you get back to the top ten too. I am sure that is good enough for a tier four such as yourself, yeah?"
Jason said.
"Interesting proposal, but I need to refuse at this time."
Kiernan said, turned around, and walked away.
"Sleep on it. I think youâll find it very worthwhile to help us instead of working against us. The other representatives are also making teams to increase their odds.
"Itâs what the lower-ranked representatives usually do. After a few events, they get desperate for points, and so they start working together.
"If we were working together on Point Ball and Horse Endurance, three of us would already be standing at the top of the rankings.
"Itâs very useful to have friends in here!"
Justus said.
Kiernan stayed silent and walked away with the plastic bag still in his hand, swinging back and forth like a pendulum.
