The following three days turned into a practically nonstop party to celebrate successfully repelling Rook and Clarien’s forces, as well as to thank Urs for everything he had done.
Avery had rented out the best restaurant in the Yuson System as he said he would, along with rooms in a hotel just across the street so that everyone could stay nearby.
Needless to say, this was not easy on his account, and he only had about five million Krenin left now since he had also recently paid off the remaining balance on his carrier ship and requested a few interior upgrades that did not come cheap.
Unfortunately, there were not going to be any opportunities to make any money in the near future. As he had his own wedding to attend to.
Until that was over, he would need to keep a watch on his spending a bit. Though, he figured that if something truly dire came up, he could ask for Kasandra’s and Jasmine’s support.
’I really wish that I could have gotten Urs to agree to come, but he’s a stubborn old man.’ Avery thought as he boarded his vessel.
It was time for his group, and the thirty ship fleet that Azade had sent as escorts, to head out.
This unexpected excursion to the Yuson System had taken up the remaining free time that they had.
If Avery’s group took the fastest route utilizing warp portals, they would arrive four days before the scheduled date of the wedding. That was not a lot of time for them to get settled in and prepare for the event, but thankfully, Jasmine’s mother should have been taking care of most of the arraignments.
"You look excited." Avery said as he took his seat next to Jasmine.
"Of course, I am! It almost doesn’t feel real that I’m getting married. On my home planet of all places. For a long time, I never even considered romance, and I didn’t think that I’d ever return home."
"But I really am lucky to have met you, Avery. You saved me in my darkest hour when I was just someone that you’d only met twice as a member of the Alliance Police. Then you stood up to my mother even if it meant antagonizing the ruler of an entire planet. And you even helped patch up my relationship with her. My life took a majorly unexpected turn since I met you, but I wouldn’t want to change it for anything."
Hearing all of this made Avery feel warm and fuzzy inside. There was nothing else like complements from a beautiful woman that a guy loved.
While the two of them had been talking, their hands had kept moving as they completed routine diagnostics before departure.
Naturally, the Dauntless was still in perfect shape, but it was best not to get complacent and miss an easily avoidable problem. Just one small area out in space could potentially lead to a major disaster after all.
Once they had received the go ahead to depart, Avery engaged the Dauntless’ thrusters and slowly rose up off of the ground.
Their group was a lot larger than normal, thanks to the thirty ships from Azade’s Keepers of the Peace.
Each one had the planet’s emblem painted on one side and gold and blue coloration.
Their sizes ranged from small vessels around the size of the Dauntless, to a single craft that was just slightly bigger than the average Alliance Police light cruiser.
This was honestly an unusually sizable force for a planet to send so far away from its borders. Still, Avery was not complaining, as their assistance had helped his parents in their time of need.
’I don’t know what Regina is going to ask for in return. Hopefully she doesn’t try to get Jasmine and I to settle down on Azade again.’ Avery thought as he laid in a course to the hyperlane that would take them out of the Yuson System.
...
Twelve and a half days later, the familiar sight of the Cocarro system came into view as they exited hyperspace.
Immediately, the resplendent planet of blue and green that was Azade filled the screen as Jasmine zoomed in on it.
Though it had only been a few months since they were last here, there was still a nostalgic look on her face now that she was nearly home again.
"It really is quite beautiful. As someone that grew up on a colony in space, there’s something alluring about a habitable planet with all of its unique colors and environments." Avery said, flashing Jasmine a smile.
Considering that they were being escorted by several of Azade’s planetary police force and Jasmine’s status as the daughter of the world’s chancellor, their group received almost immediate permission to enter the planets’ atmosphere and land.
For Avery it was honestly a bit shocking how easy it was. Normally, planet checks took longer and were more thorough than most stations, but this was probably the fastest Avery had ever received clearance to land anywhere.
With their escorts leading the way, Avery’s team was brought directly to the outskirts of the capital city.
There, they waited for a few minutes as the Keepers of the Peace were switched out with members of Regina’s personal guard.
After handing over remote control of their vessels, Avery’s group was brought directly to the chancellor’s estate. A perk of having her daughter with them.
Just like last time, they all landed in the same hangar designated for guests.
From there, they had to go through a few security checks, and those with cybernetic enhancements whose bodies were equipped with weapons were brought to a separate area to have their armaments disarmed without losing the ability to move their prosthetics.
As for Avery, Jasmine, and Kasandra, a vehicle was sent to get them. They would be the only ones going to meet with Regina, while the others would be shown to their rooms at one of the guesthouses.
"It is a pleasure to see you again, Lady Jasmine. Your mother is waiting and has some important information to tell you before the wedding. Please, get inside and I’ll take you there to her." Ciphilolia, one of Regina’s closest aides said as she beckoned them into the vehicle.
