Chapter 420 Rescue and Accusation

When Avery reached the exit to the venue where the reception is being held, he kicked the door open. Knocking it off of its hinges.
This only saved him a fraction of a second compared to just waiting for them to open normally, but he was in a rush and time was of the essence.
Accompanying him were Nianni, his mother, Kasandra, and Regina.
However, he could not allow Jasmine’s mother or Kasandra to see what he was going to attempt using his, Nianni’s, and his mother’s powers.
"Regina, Kasandra, I need you two to stay behind and keep everyone else calm. I’m Jasmine’s husband now. You can count on me to take care of her." Avery said as he dashed off without waiting for a response.
Thankfully, Jasmine’s mother understood what he was getting at and stayed behind.
As for Kasandra, she took a couple more steps before stopping. She did not understand why Avery did not want her to come with him, but she decided to respect his wishes. Whatever the explanation was, she would get it later.
Now it was just him with Jasmine in his arms, and Nianni and Serena trailing behind him.
When they made it around the first bend in the hallway, Avery abruptly stopped.
"Mom, you can trust Nianni. I need you to use your ability to help Jasmine. Nianni could you please keep singing. I’ll help direct both of you."
With how dire the situation was, neither woman asked for more clarification and did as Avery asked.
Nianni began singing again now that she had caught her breath, and Avery’s mother produced a barely visible red aura that she sent into Jasmine’s body.
All the while, Avery watched what was going on with his extrasensory perception.
"Nianni, could you try a different song. Jasmine’s favorite is Season of Home. Mom, could you direct your energy towards her heart and the brain. Especially the Amygdala. I don’t know what the substance is, but it seems to be affecting her most there." Avery said, giving detailed instructions.
The entire time that they were using their extraordinary powers, Jasmine was groaning in pain and distress. Whatever the toxin inside of her was, she was fighting it hard. Before she had seemed to be overwhelmed by it and had lashed out at Avery, but that had already passed by this point.
Working together, the Nianni kept Jasmine’s emotional state in check while Avery and his mother focused on purging the drug from Jasmine’s system.
Fortunately, with Avery’s eyes, he was able to direct his mother and have her father the substance up.
The process was not easy and took incredible precision from both of them.
Eventually, though, the toxin was gathered up and directed back towards Jasmine’s stomach.
Obviously, they could not just leave it there, so Avery and his mother forced Jasmine to throw it up.
Spluttering, she coughed up what looked like black blood.
There were several rounds of this, and by the end, Jasmine had probably expelled around a half liter of blood along with a lot of spit and mucus.
It was not pretty to say the least, but by the end, her breathing had become more stabilized and the agony she was experiencing receded.
"Avery..." Jasmine held up her hand towards his face weekly.
Helping her, he grabbed her hand and placed it against his cheek.
"I’m right here. Whatever it was that poisoned you should be mostly gone now. I’m going to bring you to a medical pod now, and it should make you feel better soon."
In stark contrast to how frantic his voice had been earlier; it was calm and gentle now.
While she was weak right now, there was no longer any threat of Jasmine’s condition worsening. The drug inside of her had been almost entirely expelled from her body. Only trace amounts that were not strong enough to cause any harm remained.
"Thank you both for you help. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without you two. But I need both of you to head back now. You won’t be able to keep up with me once I start really moving." Avery said as he turned down the hallway and took off without waiting for a reply.
He was moving so fast that his feet left indentations in the floor.
Serena and Nianni were surprised to see him take off so quickly. He was moving far faster than a normal person ever would be able to.
...
"Don’t worry. We’ll take good care of her. Just leave her to us."
When Avery reached the nearest medical facility that was on site, there was already a team of doctors waiting to receive Jasmine. No doubt Regina had used her authority as chancellor to call them here. For her daughter, there were no lengths she was not willing to go to.
Avery was about to hand Jasmine over to the doctor when she whispered in his ear and told him to wait a moment.
"I’m so sorry, Avery. I don’t know what came over me."
"There’s no reason for you to apologize. You didn’t do anything wrong. Someone poisoned you. Whoever did that is at fault, and I’m going to find them and make them wish that they had never been born."
"No, that’s not it. I tried not to, but I was afraid of and hated you for bit. I feel so awful. How could I have ever felt that way towards you. I even tried to kill you." Jasmine said as she began crying profusely.
Avery just hugged her to him and told her that everything was going to be alright now.
As they were having this heartfelt moment, the doctors stared at Avery with an urgency in their eyes.
They did not know that the drug was already nearly entirely out of Jasmine’s system, so they were frantic to begin treatment on a patient they believed to be poisoned.
Except, before he gave her over to the medical professionals, Jasmine had one last thing she needed to tell Avery.
"It was Bastion. I don’t know how he did it, but it must have been him. When I started eating, I glanced over at him for just an instant and he was smirking. I’m certain it was him."
