Chapter 845: Panicked

"So, why are we going to the Stergern right now?" Kanaria asked.
"That’s what I’m curious about." Melody turned to the side.
All of them couldn’t help but look at Clovis, wondering the same thing. Clovis didn’t tell anyone the reason. He only told them that they had to visit Stergern.
As for the rest, he had been hiding it the whole time.
Clovis maintained his silence for a moment before turning his gaze toward them.
He never thought that his great-grandmother was actually such an amazing person. He was also a little worried that going here might not be a good idea as well.
Everything started to connect.
Silvia Esferath was the one behind the Golden World Agency. She also took care of the logistics of the Hacfield family. If he looked at it from this angle, Silvia Esferath might know the entire thing.
No, she might be the scariest person in the Hacfield family.
Clovis asked, "In your eyes, what do you think about the Hacfield family? Maybe a little history lesson?"
"Hmm?" Kanaria contemplated.
Melody answered with whatever she had in mind. "The Hacfield family was a family that dominated an entire country. They had a lot of useful men and could be said to be having the greatest human resources in the world.
"Even if you compare it to present-day families or organizations, no one has yet to reach the level of the Hacfield family.
"However, the Hacfield family suffered a disastrous defeat after one of its founders, Michael Hacfield’s wife, Lily Esferath, succumbed to her sickness.
"Ultimately, the Hacfield family went into decline and it gradually dissolved, leaving an empty shell of its former glory.
"While it is a shell compared to its peak, it is still considered one of the greatest families in the world. They are hidden, so not much information can be found about them."
Christina shook her head. "Well, that was not what my grandfather told me. For your information, I have no idea how to prove it, so take whatever I’m about to say with a pinch of salt.
"The Hacfield family was ambushed by the two biggest influences in its era. The fight involved three Tier 9 humans, which led to the Hacfield family’s disastrous defeat.
"Due to the pressure and the loss of their brain, Lily Esferath, the Hacfield family chose to disband. Their people were poached due to their abilities, which signified their power.
"Even right now, you will find famous people all around the world who were once a part of the Hacfield family.
"Clovis’ grandfather, Michael Hacfield, had chosen to bury the revenge and closed the gate of the Hacfield family."
They all looked at Clovis, wondering what was going on.
When Christina said it that way, everything started to become clear. His grandfather and his great-grandmother might have cut contact back then.
And his great-grandmother might not have had any information about him this whole time. She might be one of the people his grandfather tried to hide him from.
The moment he reached this conclusion, he finally understood the reason the Dark Supreme had come to him at that time.
"Ah, shit!" Clovis shook his head helplessly. "The succession battle... that is bullshit."
"Clovis?" Christina raised her voice. Ever since she learned about Steven, Christina had been on edge, wanting to make sure he didn’t reveal any information that could haunt all the people here.
Clovis smiled at Christina, as if telling her that he was still under control. He explained, "That succession battle is not about Vina or Stefany. It was about me. The Dark Supreme must be trying to get me through the succession battle."
"What?"
"Why you?"
The people were confused because they only had part of the information.
But when they had all the information, they would realize that information might be the scariest.
It didn’t matter whether Vina or Stefany was the one in charge of the information division. As long as they had the Dark Emerald Group, they would be sent to him.
This whole time, it wasn’t the Dark Supreme’s idea. It was his great-grandmother’s idea.
The Dark Supreme wanted to see if Vina could become a monster like his great-grandmother by having him teach her.
That was why he willingly gave the succession battle. It was to lead him to his great-grandmother.
Before Clovis could say anything, he actually received a call.
The people were bewildered when they saw the caller’s name.
Michael Hacfield.
"Hello, Grandfather."
"Clovis. You should turn around and head back to Absalom."
"Yeah? I think I really want to meet this person, Grandfather. It looks like you have been hiding me from her for the last 18 years. Am I wrong?"
"You don’t understand. That woman is not human. She is a monster. I’m warning you."
"Well, I certainly want to meet the woman who can scare you, grandfather. After all, I’m curious how she is able to make even the Dark Supreme run an errand for her."
"Oh, fuck." Michael started to get desperate. "If you go there, I will die, okay?"
"No one can kill you, Grandfather. Even if some Tier 9 humans work together, you will still be able to escape, no?"
"Killing someone doesn’t necessarily mean killing them physically. There are other ways of killing people."
"Then, I would like to find out about it... I want to know her... my great-grandmother!"
Instead of Clovis, it was Michael who hung up the call. It appeared he had become even more desperate in whatever he was doing.
Meanwhile, the others were dumbfounded. Clovis had just dropped a bomb. A person who could scare the man who was called the Madman? A person who could make the Dark Supreme run an errand for her? And this person was actually Clovis’ great-grandmother?
Clovis glanced at them. "You want to know why I chose to go to Stergern? Well, now you know. This is personal, so if you don’t plan to go with me, then I understand..." That was what Clovis said, but the others seemed to be excited.
It looked like they had been ’Clovified,’ that they were eager to see this scary person rather than choosing the safe route. They just believed Clovis wouldn’t bring them to a danger they couldn’t handle.
...
Stergern.
A maid carefully pushed the wheelchair next to the beach. The person in the wheelchair was a lady in her eighties. Despite her aged look, she happily lit up her tobacco pipe while enjoying the beach view.
"You look happy, Ma’am."
"Of course, I’m happy. That fucking little prick has grown a bit. To think he could hide my great-grandson for a fucking 17 years, 2 months, 3 days, 5 hours, 14 minutes, and 2 seconds from me. I should say I’m impressed."
