Chapter 889: Clovis’ Arrival

*Rumble!*
*Rumble!*
The building collapsed because of that single strike. Even though Jay did it subconsciously, he had actually done something that he once dreamed of.
Jay once told Clovis the reason he had picked up the blade. The slashing power of a blade was something he desired because he once saw a Tier 8 human cut a building in a single slash.
Although it wasn’t the same way as the Tier 8 human from back then, Jay had definitely cut down a building in one slash.
The building collapsed and fell on top of the leader, burying him.
Christina rushed to the collapsing building with her shield in front. A piece of rubble hit her shield pretty hard, but it wasn’t a problem for her.
Meanwhile, Jay squinted his eyes, wondering if he had done it. The building was quite tall, but it might not be enough to bury a Tier 7 mutated human.
Still, the mutated human didn’t specialize in defense like the deer, so there was a chance he had managed to fully bury him.
His answer soon came when the rubble suddenly crumbled even further as the human emerged. His body was covered with bruises, but his arm was the only thing that bled from all that.
It looked like his arm was pierced by reinforced steel when it fell down, but as expected, this much force wasn’t enough to actually kill him.
Besides, the Tier 7 human might have done something else to protect himself at the last moment.
Jay clicked his tongue, but it looked like he was getting targeted. Christina had activated her unique ability to stop him from getting away, but the leader had gone berserk like a beast, so it was hard to control him.
The leader was still looking at Jay. When he was about to move, a bullet suddenly hit the target, causing the leader to swing his axe at the last moment.
Boom!
The bullet exploded and blasted the human to the building next to him, but it was just the force from the explosion. The bullet was still cut by the axe.
"!!!" Christina and Jay were surprised, but it looked like Kanaria had just assisted them earlier. There were only two scenarios where Kanaria would shoot him. First, Clovis asked her. The other was that the deer had died.
"Kanaria!" Christina hurriedly opened her mouth, trying to confirm which possibility it was.
Instead of Kanaria, Clovis was the one answering that question. "Yes, yes. I’m here. Thank you for the wait."
As he said those words, Clovis leaped from the rooftop.
"Clovis!" Christina gasped. She didn’t expect that Clovis would manage to kill the deer by himself. He was indeed assisted by Kanaria, but her firepower shouldn’t be enough to do anything severe against the deer. It meant Clovis fought it almost by himself.
They could feel the familiar killing intent that soared once again.
The leader had stood up and rushed outside the building before jumping into the air, facing Clovis in earnest.
Due to his berserk state, the leader couldn’t care less who Clovis was. As long as he came toward him, he would face him in earnest.
"Clovis. Be careful. That guy’s offensive power is even higher than the deer’s."
"In that case, we can test it in earnest." Clovis smirked and swung his sword.
The sword and the axe clashed against each other. The swing carried all their momentum and power as Clovis used his Overlord Slayer.
But the next thing that happened shocked everyone. The killing intent erupted as if it were producing even more power for Clovis.
The clash that lasted for one second ended up in Clovis’ victory. His sword overpowered the enemy’s axe and knocked him down to the ground.
"What?" Christina dropped her jaw to the ground. She had seen his offensive power, but it looked stronger and more refined. It looked like Clovis had improved his control a bit during the fight.
However, he still couldn’t contain his killing intent.
’I can only do this two more times.’ Clovis frowned. He had to kill this human in two strikes. It looked like he had no choice but to make some sacrifices and rely on others. "By the way, do you know anything about their reason for coming here?"
"I know next to nothing." Christina was oblivious to the entire thing.
On the other hand, Jay said, "I couldn’t hear it directly, but by how his mouth moved, he muttered two words. ’Kill’ and ’Daughter.’"
"..." Clovis fell silent. The moment he heard the second word, he realized what had happened. The mutated female he killed previously might be the daughter of their leader.
This guy only wanted to avenge his daughter. Clovis had only focused on himself the whole time, killing his daughter just to cover his tracks. It could be said that his daughter was collateral damage.
However, it wasn’t like he could change anything in this fight. He still had to cover his tracks, so he had no choice but to kill all these mutated humans.
In the end, they were not entirely in the clear either. The reason the government issued the kill-on-sight order was all the people they had murdered or even eaten.
Clovis took a deep breath before saying, "Christina, Jay. Restrain his movement. I will try to kill it in two strikes."
Jay understood what Clovis wanted. Christina had been overpowered by the leader earlier, so he had to do what he had done with Ragna before.
"Got it." Christina rushed to the leader as the latter stood up and swung his axe toward her.
Christina blocked it, but the axe definitely pushed her back. Jay approached him from the other side.
The leader could overpower him any time, so he tried to kill Jay in one swing, but surprisingly, Jay didn’t come to attack this time.
He put away his blade to completely dodge it and loop around. The beast was trying to chase him, but when he turned around, Christina had rushed back to keep him close, his axe ultimately striking Christina’s shield.
Unfortunately for him, Christina didn’t budge this time. It was all thanks to Jay pushing the shield with his hand, giving Christina the necessary power to block that attack.
With Christina’s Provoke, the leader would be locked in place. This was an opportunity for Clovis.
