Clovis observed her reaction. He never thought that she would be the one approaching him first.
After all, she was known to be indifferent.
Angelia’s face remained calm, but she was curious about what he had said earlier. Clovis certainly had his own plan, like them.
"Don’t you think eavesdropping is rather rude?" Clovis asked.
"I didn’t mean to eavesdrop. I was jogging until I saw you here."
Clovis raised his eyebrows. Now that he took another look at her, she was indeed wearing her training outfit.
"In that case, let’s treat this as an unexpected meeting and be on our way." Clovis nodded.
Angelia nodded in understanding. It didn’t matter much to her whether it was a coincidental meeting or not.
Her eyes soon shifted to Reolf. "Is this the rumored wolf? What’s his name again? Reolf?"
"Indeed." Clovis nodded while introducing Reolf, "This is my family, Reolf. Reolf, this is Angelia Soveretta."
"Woof!" Reolf let out a gentle bark as a greeting.
"He’s truly different. Even though he’s a beast, his intelligence is so high that he understands everything."
"Indeed. Reolf is a smart kid." Clovis smiled.
Angelia paused for a moment as if she was hesitating whether to say it or not. "Since it’s like fate that we end up meeting here, how about I tell you a piece of information?"
"A piece of information?"
Angelia nodded. "Astrien is planning something. Even I don’t know what they’re planning to do, but they might be coming for you directly."
"Astrien?" Clovis was quite surprised to get this kind of information.
Although there was no proof yet, he could think of one possible reason.
’Don’t tell me... the attack this time... It would come from Astrien? Has the Prophet contacted them?’ Clovis could only think of this one possible reason.
There was no way Astrien would foolishly attack him without any guarantee. But if the Prophet, who had been controlling the world from the shadows, got involved, the situation would be different.
’It looks like I need to investigate this matter.’
Clovis smiled wryly. "I never thought you would give me that kind of information. Aren’t you supposed to be allies?"
Angelia understood his meaning. This was another way to show her that Clovis’ intelligence network was also quite capable.
She gave one thing, he gave one thing. This would make them even.
"It looks like you are not one who likes to be in debt... Even though I have specifically stated that it’s a gift."
"In that case, let’s just say it’s also a gift for our first meeting."
Angelia closed her eyes for a moment. "I understand. Let’s go with that."
"Great."
"There is something I’d like to ask, if you don’t mind."
"If it’s something I can answer, sure." Clovis nodded.
"Do you hate my country or something?"
"I don’t hate any countries yet."
Angelia was relieved with that confirmation. It looked like they didn’t necessarily need to clash.
"That’ll be good." Angelia nodded. "Well, this is not a question, but can I touch him?"
"Reolf?" Clovis was quite surprised, but then again, there were a lot of people who would like to touch him.
Before Clovis even asked, Reolf already lowered his body and gave a small bark as an acknowledgement. "Woof."
"Looks like he’s fine with it."
"Thank you." Angelia approached Reolf and gently stroked his fur. Although there weren’t any changes of expression, the mood was clearly different.
"Both of us have our own goals and plans for this assembly. Just know that my country has no intention of becoming your enemy."
"That will depend on what you do, no?" Clovis squinted his eyes. As one of the Tier 8 human representatives, her opinion mattered a lot. In fact, she was the vice commander of her country since the military was needed to take the lead role.
Angelia finally took a step back. "That’s true. In that case, I should continue my exercises. Thank you for sparing your valuable time."
"Thank you." Clovis nodded back, watching Angelia continue running.
Once she was gone, Clovis moved closer to Reolf to avoid any eyes while whispering, "Watch out, Reolf. See if there are any spies around."
Reolf curled up around him to shield him, while Clovis sent a message directly to Aileen.
"Aileen. Are you free?"
"I’m free for now. Is there something wrong? Do you need me to do anything?"
"I need you to check Astrien. Tell Vina about it as well and ask her to check any information or contact that Astrien has made."
Clovis wanted to confirm it first. If Angelia told him the truth, it meant he could trust her to a certain extent.
If she were just throwing some accusation to mislead him, he would have no hesitation in becoming her enemy.
"Got it."
Clovis sighed. "It looks like this assembly will be more chaotic than I originally expected."
On the other side of the hotel, Melody noticed Aileen’s movement. "Aileen?"
Aileen whispered to Melody. "There’s a suspicion on Astrien. We need to check it."
"Clovis?" Melody didn’t expect they would receive information this quickly.
Aileen nodded to confirm her suspicion.
Melody thought for a moment before giving a specific order to the teammates.
"Kanaria, you try to track their logistics. See if there are any weird numbers or anything. Erwin, you are good at reading people, right? Read those people. On the other hand, Aileen will tail them. Do it as quietly as possible. Don’t provoke them or let them know we suspect them.
"Since we can’t make a big move yet, I’ll contact Vina to make an additional investigation. The rest can proceed with your own schedules."
"I’m getting left behind again." Rin looked down. "Well, I’m going off then."
"Ahahaha." Melody just chuckled. "Just go with him. It won’t go wrong."
"Fine." Rin nodded.
"Alright. Let’s get it started. Since it’s just a suspicion, no need to make a fuss about it." Melody waved her hand, acting as if it wasn’t a big deal.
But she was probably going to be buried in work, as she had to supervise everything.
